19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.
Victory also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.
His defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour victory, took control to push for a third set.
He saved four early chances in a tight third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, he earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
