“That was regrettable. It was essentially an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The entire stadium was brimming with excitement for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the signal was completely unintentional, occurring amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I simply showed the incorrect digit,” he remarked. “The action was accidentally performed. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected pretty quick.”

This is not the first time an league proprietor has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Previous examples involve:
- Panthers owner David Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at spectators in January 2024.
